Southern Charm in New Orleans

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Let me tell you — if you ever visit the American south, bring lots of tank tops because it is crazy hot down there. Even hotter than Jamaica!

We stayed at a boutique hotel in the French Quarters, right around the block from Bourbon Street. Now, Bourbon Street is one of those streets that you must visit while in New Orleans. It’s world famous for its nightlife and was the perfect starting point for our girls’ weekend. The cocktails are oversized, the clubs go all night and all the shops stay open until morning time.

While in New Orleans we took a boat ride down the Mississippi River, listened to a lot of jazz music and we even tried grits for the first time. Side note — we didn’t like it.

While having dinner at the Rib Room on Royal Street, we were serenaded by a lively jazz band.

We also visited the Hurricane Katrina Museum, which was a very emotional walk through of the devastation that happened to the city. Despite the hard times that the city has been through, the people are wonderful and the city is resilient.
