What to do on
Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of those weird occurrences every year when we all feel either depressed that we’re not dating someone or depressed that we’re dating someone who isn’t overdosing us on Hallmark’s notion of romance and love. Good thing Valentine’s Day events in Toronto are suitable for just about everyone. Whether you’re spending V-Day in pairs, solo, or with a posse, every
experience of love is a singular and unique journey which can sometimes
lead to crazy and odd places like the zoo, ice skating or sitting
tete-a-tete over candlelight. If you’re looking for what to do on Valentine’s Day in Toronto, I’ve got some ideas for you!

GO TO THE ZOO; Spend an evening of food and fun as you learn the fine art
of romance as observed in the animal kingdom. Discover
the elaborate, awkward and hilarious lengths to which
animals will go to attract a mate. The Valentine’s Program at the Toronto Zoo includes a romantically inspired dinner, special
animal encounter and an interactive group presentation.

GO ICE SKATING; It’s fun and it’s free! What can be better for a romantic evening or just chilling with your gal pals. Habourfront Centre offers a DJ skate party, or cozy up with some hot chocolate after a twirl around the rink at Nathan Phillips Square. Ice skating remains one of Toronto’s popular winter pastimes. So
grab your date or your buddy, and head out for a skate.

GO FOR DINNER; Tried and true. Nothing is a sure winner for date night than a romantic dinner for two… or three.. or even four. There are so many amazing restaurants in Toronto, it’s insane. But I recently just had dinner at this little Italian gem on Bloor Street so I just had to include it my V-Day round up of places and things to do. Serra Ristorante is located in the heart of the Annex, the staff there are awesome and they’ve got a prixe-fixe menu for Valentine’s Day that includes three courses for $35.00. You can’t beat that!

GO FOR DESSERT;  Chocolate Banana Cake or Red Velvet Cake? Ahhh, yes please to both! Whether looking for a romantic dinner for two, a hot cappuccino
and a slice of cake, or a late night cocktail, 7 West in Toronto specializes in the most over-indulgent desserts. At only $7.50 a slice, you can’t pay any less for a bit of heavenly deliciousness. 7 West is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

GO OUT FOR MUSIC;  Wavelength’s festival of indie music is back for Valentine’s weekend,
and offers three nights of indie entertainment for couples who are
more comfortable holding hands in a crowd of plaid than sitting
tete-a-tete over candlelight.

GO DANCING; Every Friday and Saturday night, The Distillery District offers Vinyl Nights at the Mill St. Beer Hall. From 8:00pm to late,  DJ Humble Mike spins a mix
of soul, funk, classic rock and old school hip hop. And there’s no cover.
