Drugstore Beauty Finds

Those who follow me on a regular know that I’m not typically about the drugstore beauty finds. I wish I could take advantage of the lower price point, but even the cheap deals would be money well wasted. Aside from my Maybelline BB Cream, I can’t really indulge in drugstore beauty products. The low quality and low pigments don’t last but an hour on my oily skin. Lipsticks don’t appear after a single gulp of water. Pencils smudge and run leaving you with only half an eyebrow by 2 o’clock.

However once in a blue moon, I do take a gamble and purchase a few items from my local drugstore. I can’t help myself. The drugstore is so much more accessible than hauling ass to Sephora or waiting in line at M.A.C.

As I mentioned above and in past beauty posts, I religiously wear Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Medium/Deep. But a co-worker suggested trying out L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream. When I told her about my oily skin, she said this BB cream is something she swears by. It blends just as well as Dream Fresh but Skin Beautifier gives her skin a matte finish and keeps it looking matte all day. I was skeptical of her claims but I went ahead and tried the shade Deep. Skin Beautifier comes out of the tube a lighter white colour. I don’t love the grainy texture – not as silky and creamy as Maybelline. But the application is okay and it does blend well to match my complexion. TWO THUMBS UP!

From the drugstore I’ve also been using Maybelline Brow Precise pencil in Deep Brown. I actually only bought this product because I was at the hair salon one day (I typically don’t go for a hair wash with makeup on but I was planning on going to dinner after wards and didn’t want to go back home).  After my hair wash I realized that my stylist inadvertently washed off half of one of my brows. Since I was going to dinner after wards, I quickly picked up this drugstore brow pencil. I chose it because it was one of the few that had a spooly on the other end for blending. So – not a lie – since that day I’ve been using it on my brows. In fact, I’ve been loving it so much that this morning, I just about abandoned by Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade routine. It’s that good! Been keeping my brows on fleek! TWO THUMBS UP!

Let’s talk about skin for second. It’s a real rare thing for me to buy anything for my skin in a drugstore. But here it is – I can’t live without NYC Smooth Loose Face Powder. I use this translucent powder to set my colour corrector underneath my eyes. It was only supposed to be temporary until I got the hang of blending correctors to conceal dark under eye circles. The idea was, I’d get it right, then invest in the good stuff. But can I tell you, I’m actually still using this product. Hey, it does the job! Sets my under eye colour corrector just right to keep me looking bright eyed and bushy tail all day. TWO THUMBS UP!

I’m the opposite of you and absolutely LOVE drugstore products. LOL! But I also have dry skin so maybe that’s why I have a different result. I love eyebrow pencils, it looks way more natural on me (gel looks too harsh on me) and I’ll be picking up the Maybelline brow pencil to try soon! Have you tried Maybelline lipsticks? They are really good and worth trying. xx

Since you’ve recommended Maybelline lipstick – I will give it a try! I think you’ll like that brow pencil. It’s very nice. Thanks @disqus_Q4LCztEZOa:disqus !
